Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Who defines the asking prices at the World Whisky Index?
 The owner (in general investors and/or collectors) decide on what price to ask for their bottles.

2.  Are there any costs for registering at the World Whisky Index?
No, registering at the WWI is free of charges.

3. Are there any costs for adding bottles to my portfolio?

We can add your collection (including photography). A minimum of 10 bottles is required, you pay € 10 per bottle. For each bottle you have double, you pay € 2,50.  If you offer more than 25 bottles, you will pay € 7,50 per bottle and € 2,50 for each double. 

4. What are the costs for offering your bottles at the World Whisky Index?
Storage fee amounts to 2% of the market value of your bottles per year, these costs will be charged every 3 months. Upon selling your bottle you pay a 2% transaction fee. Bottles sold outside the WWI, will be charged with a transaction fee of 10%.

5. What are the costs for buying a bottle at the World Whisky Index?
If you purchase a bottle of whisky on the World Whisky Index, no fee is charged!

6. Is it an obligation to sell the bottles in my portfolio?

No, you can decide yourself whether to sell the bottles in your portfolio or not.

7. Is it possible to collect my bottles at your office?
Yes, you can. In this case, choose for the option that you want to leave the bottle(s) at the World Whisky Index. Call us during office hours at +31 (0)252 22 20 11 to make an appointment for collecting your bottles. The charges for collecting your bottle(s) is € 2,50 per bottle with a minimum of € 7,50 each time you want to collect bottles. These costs will be charged cash. 

 8. Does the World Whisky Index transport the whisky's globally?

 No, the World Whisky Index can only arrange shipment within the European Union.

9. Are the pictures of the bottles exactly as the bottles I purchase?

SWI will always take the effort in trying to create and to publish an image of each article that gives a representative picture of a bottle in question. However, since these are second-hand goods, some bottles, labels and / or packaging might be damaged or incomplete. These damages are not always visible in the picture. If you want to be sure that the bottle (s) you want to buy are complete and undamaged before purchasing or making a bid, please contact us during office hours by phone or email with SWI. You buy at your own risk.
